Window Rock, Arizona – Democracy in Action, the 25th Navajo Nation Council re-elected it’s spokesperson during the 3rd Winter Council session on January 27, 2025. The 25th Navajo Nation Council members within its own ranks nominated Crystalyne Curley (Tachee/Blue Gap, Many Farms, Nazlini, Tselani/Cottonwood, Low Mountain), Shawna Ann Claw (Chinle), Steven Arviso (Churchrock, Iyanbito, Mariano Lake, Pinedale, Smith Lake, Thoreau), and Rick Nez (T’iistsoh Sikaad, Nenahnezad, Upper Fruitland, Tse’ Daa’ Kaan, Newcomb, San Juan).
In the first round of voting the following return were made 13 (Curley), 4 (Arviso), 4 (Claw) and 3 (Nez). The second round of voting between the tie, the following votes were 16 (Arviso) and 8 (Claw). In the final round of voting the following vote were 16 for Curley and 8 for Arviso.
Following the final voting, a traditional Navajo prayer was conducted by the Honorable George Tolth (Littlewater, Pueblo Pintado, Torreon, Whitehorse Lake, Baca/Prewitt, Casamero Lake, Ojo Encino, Counselor)
